Prestigious guests

Port of Kemi had honorable visitors when Harry T. Conway, the chair of the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) visited the port.

IMO is the United Nations specialized agency with responsibility for the safety and security of shipping as well as prevention of ship generated marine and atmospheric pollution, where MEPC addresses environmental issues under IMO’s remit.

A brisk north wind didn’t interrupt Mr. Conway from getting acquainted with winter navigation on exceptionally icy bay of Bothnia. The chairman was also interested of port operations on harsh winter conditions.  From the port Mr. Conway and his entourage boarded on ice breaker Urho to assist vessels sailing on northern bay of Bothnia.

Port of Kemi Ltd. would like to thank chairman Conway and his entourage for the visit and welcome to visit the port again!
